FRUITS AND VEGETABLE

Fruits and Vegetable as part of your daily diet:

Fruit and Vegetables are rich in vitamins and minerals, which are essential for your body to function properly. As well as keeping your skin and hair healthy, a diet that contains plenty of fruit and vegetables can reduce your risk of getting heart disease and some types of cancer.
Fruit and vegetables are also very low in fat and are therefore helpful if you are trying to lose weight.
Enjoy a wide variety of fruit and vegetable types every day. Aim for five servings daily and choose a mixture of colours to ensure a good mix of nutrients. All fruit and vegetables, including fresh, frozen, canned, dried and pure juices, count towards the five daily servings.

Fruits and Vegetables are an important part of your overall healthy eating plan. They are high in vitamins, minerals and fiber and low in fat and calories. Eating a variety of fruits and vegetables may help you control your weight and your blood pressure.

Fruit and Vegetables in your diet have many positive effects upon health.
  • Their high fibre content helps control blood glucose levels, reduces cholesterol and probably reduces the risk of colon cancer and other cancers.
  • They contain antioxidants and phytochemicals that may reduce the risk of coronary heart disease.
  • More than any other foods, they contain essential vitamins and minerals that are vital for good health and disease prevention.  Dr Dan Rutherford
